Ingredients:
serving size: The following made about 3 extra meals to be stored in the freezer after feeding 2 adults and 3 kids for dinner.
Ingredients:
ground beef, 2 lbs
ground pork, 2 lbs
panko or bread crumbs, 10 oz
sugar, 5 tbsp
salt, 1 tbsp
minced garlic, 3 tbsp
eggs, 5
green onions (finely chopped,) 5 stalks
onions (finely chopped,) 2 whole
Directions
1. Add 2 lbs of ground beef and pork to a big bowl. Add panko crumbs, sugar, minced garlic, ground pepper, eggs, green onions, and onions and mix everything well together with a spatula. Then switch over to mixing by hand and knead until the mixture turns sticky and pale.
2. Make a round shaped patty by making a ball and pressing down on the tray or plate. Note that the patty will shrink significantly over heat.
3. To cook, heat a large pan over medium heat and add 1 tbsp of oil of your choice. Place the patties on the pan and create a slight indent in the center of each patty with two fingers.
4. Reduce the heat to low and cover the pan with a lid. Cook for 5-7 minutes on each side (adjust the time depending on the thickness of your patties.)
5. Uncover the pan to check if the patties are fully cooked by inserting a skewer or a chopstick – if clear juice comes out, the patties are thoroughly cooked.
6. Our family has always enjoyed our hamburg steaks with ketchup and veggies on the side, but you can also enjoy your hamburg steak with red wine sauce or with gravy.
