Korean Seaweed Soup

Ingredients:

1 cup of dried seaweed – soaked in water for 10 minutes
12 oz – 1 lbs of chuck, round steak, or Costco shabu shabu meat
1 tbsp of neutral oil (avocado, olive)
1 tbsp of sesame oil
4 tbsp soy sauce for soup / 3 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp minced garlic
6 cups of water
2 seafood stock coins (optional)

Directions:

1. Soak the dried seaweed in cold water for 10 minutes and let it expand. Drain the water + rinse the seaweed in running water. Squeeze the water out and set it aside.

2. Saute your beef + 1 tbsp of neutral oil over medium heat for a minute. Add the seaweed. Add 2 tbsp of soy sauce for soup and saute until the meat is fully cooked.

3. Add 6 cups of water and 2 seafood stock coins (optional – this is for more umami flavor.) Cover the pot and boil over medium low heat for at least 20 minutes for all the flavors to come together.

4. Add 1 tbsp of minced garlic and boil for another 5 minutes. Turn off heat and drizzle 1 tbsp of sesame oil. Salt and pepper to taste and enjoy!
