If you miss In-N-Out burgers, these will 100% satisfy your cravings!
Ingredients:
2 large onions, 1 sliced and 1 finely chopped
salt + pepper to season patties
1 lbs of ground beef
2 hamburger buns + 2 dinner rolls
1/4 iceberg lettuce
4 slices of tomato
4 slices of American cheese
Sauce:
1/4 cup mayo
2 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp sweet pickle, finely chopped
1/2 tsp white vinegar
Directions:
- Heat oil in pan over medium heat and add onions to make caramelized onions.
- Cook onions covered until they begin to turn golden brown and caramelize for 10 minutes. Add 1 tbsp of water whenever needed to keep them from burning.
- Remove lid and allow any remaining water to evaporate. Cook for an additional 2 minutes until they are browned and soft.
- Make the sauce by mixing together mayo, ketchup, chopped sweet pickles and vinegar in a bowl.
- Form the ground beef into 4 patties (about 4 in wide and 1/2 inch thick – I made mine slightly thicker.) Salt and pepper both sides.
- Heat a large pan over medium heat and add 1 tbsp of oil.
- Toast your hamburger buns – split side down. When they turn golden, remove them from the pan.
- Add your patties to the pan and brush mustard on each side of the patties. Cook for 3-5 minutes until desired doneness. Top with cheese and cover the lid until the cheese is melted to your liking.
- Spread the sauce on the bottom piece of the toasted bun. Top with burger patty, onion, tomato and lettuce. Serve and enjoy!!
